New nursing rehabilitation center coming to Alamo

ALAMO — A new facility dubbed a “state-of-the-art long-term care community” will be opening here in early 2018. The 130-bed center, called The Heights of Alamo, will be operated by Touchstone Communities. It will be located at 1214 South Alamo Road and will offer nursing, rehabilitation and respite care for residents of the Rio Grande Valley area. “Touchstone Communities loves the Rio Grande Valley,” Bryon Sehlke, president said. “We are thrilled to be opening The Heights of Alamo in this special part of Texas, just 15 minutes away from our sister community, Mid Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, which opened a year ago this month.”

Touchstone Communities has developed The Heights model which offers residents a fulfilling quality of life by supporting their autonomy, dignity and choice in an inviting, intimate atmosphere. Spacious family rooms, round-the- clock access to food, daily activities and attentive care are some of the many amenities which will be offered at The Heights of Alamo. However, quality, skilled nursing care is what sets Touchstone apart, and The Heights of Alamo will be operated with state-of-the art models of skilled nursing care and therapy services.

Touchstone Communities is also very pleased to be able to economically support the community of Alamo and the Rio Grande Valley through the hiring of approximately 125 dedicated team members. Joining Touchstone Communities in the development of The Heights of Alamo will be Smithers Merchant Builders. “Working in partnership alongside such a dedicated and quality-based provider as Touchstone Communities is a privilege for our organization, and the end product will be of great benefit to the people of the Rio Grande Valley,” David Frick, president, said. “We hope everyone will stay tuned for more specific information about The Heights of Alamo,” Sehlke said. “We are planning a very special Grand Opening, and hope the entire community will join us for that event in early 2018.”
