Girl Scouts celebrate Veterans Day

a55002Girl Scouts in Floresville helped celebrate Veterans Day by showing their support in a number of ways. The girls started off by spending the weekend making more than 200 scarves to give to the veterans in the Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home.

The girls participated in the Floresville Independent School District’s veteran’s ceremony by making and pinning red, white, and blue ribbons on each veteran who attended. Once the girls finished at school Nov. 11, they headed to the veterans home and handed out scarves to each veteran.

Girls from Troop 3162 also made cookies and cake for the veterans and staff of the home. The girls were given red, white, and blue balloons and showed their support for the veterans with a balloon release for all to enjoy.

Veterans Day is a time for everyone to show their respect, gratitude, and love for our veterans; the Girl Scouts made sure they did just that!
