What are short-term care facilities?

We have all heard the term “it takes a village to raise a child”. But it also takes a village to care for seniors during the last chapter of life. Mid Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation can be that village of short-term care for your loved one.

As our senior loved ones begin to age and find they are no longer able to care for themselves daily in the way they once were, many times friends and family members step up and start providing care. Family members courageously take on the task of trying to walk with their elders through the maze of doctors, medications, therapists, facilities, insurance… this task can be daunting, even when the senior lives in Mercedes, TX or another city away from you.

The family caregivers play an important role in the lives of many seniors today, but it does not mean that they do not need help from time-to-time. According to the Family Caregiver Alliance, an estimated 44 million Americans give unpaid care to loved ones. Many of these people have jobs, families, and other responsibilities. Over time, a caregiver’s own health can decline if they do not take a break every now and again.

Respite care is a type of short term care that is designed specifically to give caregivers a short-term break while still ensuring your loved one is well-taken care of. Through our skilled nursing respite care program, your loved one can stay with us for a short period of time to give you the flexibility you need for your own personal care.

Our caregivers take the time to understand visiting loved one’s needs, wants, and preferences to provide the same attentive care our permanent residents receive. Respite care is a wonderful short-term service that benefits not only caregivers but care recipients too.

At Mid Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mercedes, Texas, our team of experienced caregivers use their gifts to be the hands and feet of God to meet your physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of a loved one. As a caregiver, sometimes you just need a short break. We understand, so we offer 24/7 respite care to give you flexibility and peace of mind. Respite care allows you to bring your loved one to one of our communities for however long you need. Caring for anyone is best done in community!
