Touchstone Communities Names Dr. Jenny Sprute as
Medical Director of Heights on Huebner
SAN ANTONIO (June 2, 2009) - Touchstone Communities, a growing provider of rehabilitation therapies, skilled long-term care and assisted-living facilities in Texas and Arizona, announced today that it has named Dr. Jenny Sprute as medical director of The Heights on Huebner. Opening mid June, The Heights is designed on a new, nationally acclaimed model known as the neighborhood concept.
As medical director of The Heights on Huebner, Sprute will oversee resident care of the 120 elders the community will serve. Sprute has been a family physician with Jefferson Family Practice in San Antonio since 1997. The practice is built on the "old fashioned" philosophy of family care, where a doctor cares for a patient from birth through death. "I love caring for patients and their families," said Sprute. "I look forward to interacting with our new residents and their families at the Heights on Huebner."
"Dr. Sprute's dedication to serving not only her patients but also their families epitomizes the level of care we provide in each Touchstone Community," said Carl Fellbaum, president of Touchstone Communities. "We are thrilled to have her join our team at The Heights on Huebner."
Sprute graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in biology and completed medical school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She performed her residency training in Austin through the Central Texas Medical Foundation (CTMF) at Brackenridge Hospital and Blackstock Family Clinic, and served chief resident her final year. She is certified by the Texas Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Family Practice.
Touchstone Communities opened its first neighborhood community, The Heights at Pleasanton, Texas, in April 2008. The Heights on Huebner is the first neighborhood community in San Antonio and only the second in the state. The Heights on Huebner is comprised of "neighborhoods" or clusters of semi-private rooms for approximately 33 residents. Each neighborhood has a dedicated staff of professionals who provide 24-hour care in a home-like atmosphere. The neighborhood interior has been customized with a warm and inviting color palette and appealing, high quality fixtures and furnishings. Much like with their own homes, residents will benefit from a focus on the neighborhood's dining room and family area, complete with fireplace and television, which serves as the central gathering spot for meals and activities. Different activities will be conducted simultaneously in each of the three neighborhoods, allowing residents to choose activities they enjoy most.
