New Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, The Heights of Alamo, Announces Leadership Team

Alamo, Texas and San Antonio, Texas – Officials with Touchstone Communities representing The Heights of Alamo, a state-of-the-art skilled nursing and rehabilitation community opening within the next few months, announced today the selection of the leadership team which is beginning work immediately. Comprised of an administrator and director of nursing, the leadership team will be in charge of day-to-day operations of the 130-bed community located at 1214 South Alamo Road, Alamo, TX 78516. They will lead and work alongside nearly 125 other long-term care professionals at The Heights of Alamo.

“We are extremely excited to announce the hiring of Sandra Santana Basaldua as the administrator of The Heights of Alamo,” stated Bryon Sehlke, President of Touchstone Communities. ” Sandra is a valley native; born in Mcallen and raised in Donna. She has also been a licensed long-term care administrator in the Rio Grande Valley for the past 11 years. There is no doubt she will do an outstanding job in serving the people of the valley, whom she knows very well,” Sehlke added.

Basaldua commented, ” I have a passion for helping people am very excited about my new role as administrator of The Heights of Alamo in the Rio Grande Valley where I grew up and which I love. I am honored to serve long-term care residents and their families. I find this one of the most rewarding fields where I have a huge impact on delivering the best quality of life, with dignity and respect.” Basaldua began her professional career with the Donna Independent School District where she served in various capacities, including a teacher, curriculum specialist, and principal. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in educational administrations, in addition to her long-term care administration license and certificate.

Joining Basaldua on The Heights of Alamo’s leadership team is Jackie Alvarez as director of nursing. Born in Brownsville and raised in Rio Grande City, Alvarez received her associate’s degree in nursing from South Texas College in Mcallen. Alvarez is an eight-year veteran of the long-term care profession, having served in a variety of nursing allows me to continue doing what I love to do – taking care of residents and meeting their individual nursing needs,” Alvarez commented. “I started at the ground level in my previous position, and worked my way up to the director of nursing. I am very excited to be joining the Touchstone family,” she added.
