Touchstone Communities began as Care Inn Properties, Inc., a partnership formed in 1991 by now CEO Stan Studer, Jr. With a background in real estate and management of skilled nursing facilities, Studer and partners began seeking just the right communities to fulfill their mission of offering skilled nursing in a compassionate environment. The first community Care Inn Properties, Inc. acquired was Brenham Rest Home in 1994. Since that time, the company has grown to over 1100 employees, owns and manages eight communities in Texas and Arizona, and manages four Texas veterans homes.  Touchstone Communities now offers a continuum of care for elders that includes assisted living, skilled nursing, rehabilitative services as well as specialized care for persons with Alzheimer's Disease or needing Respite or Behavioral Care. Our ninth community, The Heights™ on Huebner, opens in the Spring of 2009 and is one of our two newest communities that are the first to bring the Neighborhood concept to Texas. Touchstone will also be building a new model of long-term care communities offering an intimate home setting and establishing a new standard of personalized care, we call The Enclave™.
